EN ISO 12115
The PLASTOMETER is especially made to measure the maturation of SMC and BMC as a function of time or as a function of the formulation(thickening agent, filler content, glass content, type of roving). The PLASTOMETER analyses the flow behaviour according to a physical model of viscosity at room temperature. The evaluation of the flowability is according to the prEN ISO 12115 standard. Beside this, the determination of the flow characteristics according to the power law description is assessing the basic plasticity and maturation, a homogeneity coefficient and the influence of the recipe on the flow properties.
The results of the evaluation are:

- the homogeneity coefficient hc
The PLASTOMETER test is very easy and quick in handling. One measurement takes about 1 minute for the test itself and approximately 1 minute for the preparation of the specimens to be tested.
A PLASTOMETER-System consists of 4 main elements:
the PLASTOMETER apparatus
- the interface for the measuring amplifiers
- the software-package for an IBM-compatible PC
- the PC system
The PLASTOMETER is an important instrument for setting up a quality management according to standard ISO 9000.
